Veteran Kannada theatre artist, filmmaker, and playwright Yashwant Sardeshpande passed away on 29 September 2025 at the age of 62 due to cardiac arrest at Fortis Hospital in Bengaluru. He had performed a play in Dharwad on the evening of 28 September and travelled to Bengaluru early on 29 September, where he complained of chest pain and collapsed shortly after arrival.
