The appointment followed a tragic stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s victory celebrations outside Chinnaswamy Stadium, which killed 11 people and injured several others. He replaced B. Dayananda, who was suspended along with four other senior officers for dereliction of duty in crowd management.
