Some Lesser Known Facts

1. Vijayveer Sidhu is an accomplished Indian sports shooter who secured India's 17th Paris Games quota spot in January 2024.
2. At the young age of 8, Vijayveer began sports shooting at St Xavier’s School in Mansa, Punjab, during a summer camp. His family later relocated to Chandigarh in 2015 to provide better training for him and his brother.
3. Under the guidance of coach D. S. Chandel, Vijayveer gained professional training and shot to fame in June 2018 by clinching the gold medal in the 25m air pistol event at the ISSF Cup in Suhl, Germany, using borrowed pistols.
4. Since 2019, Vijayveer's primary aim has been to win a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, following his participation in various international shooting competitions.
5. In November 2021, Vijayveer emerged victorious by a single point over his twin brother Udhayveer to claim gold in the junior men’s 25-metre sports pistol event at the 64th National Shooting Championship.
6. Representing India in several competitions, Vijayveer, along with his teammates, secured a bronze medal in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol team event at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
7. Vijayveer found inspiration in Indian shooter Gagan Narang to pursue a career in sports shooting.
8. On 13 January 2024, Vijayveer secured an Olympic quota for the Paris Games by winning a silver medal in the 25m rapid fire at the Asian Olympic Qualifiers in Jakarta, Indonesia.
9. Vijayveer holds the Junior World Record in the 25m standard pistol team event, achieved alongside his brother Udhayveer Singh and Adarsh.
