Latest News about Soham Chakraborty
The Calcutta High Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of actor and former Trinamool Congress MLA Soham Chakraborty in a fraud case registered in Balurghat. The complaint alleges he accepted Rs 15 lakh in 2017 from a businessman for a film role he never fulfilled. The rejection leaves him open to arrest, and he has said the allegations are an attempt to damage his public image.
A carpenter lodged a complaint at Behala police station alleging that Soham Chakraborty and his bodyguard assaulted him at the actor's home. The dispute arose over about Rs 55,000 in unpaid payments for cupboard work he had carried out there. The complaint also alleges abusive language, threats and the snatching of his phone.
Soham Chakraborty's term as MLA for Chandipur in Purba Medinipur ended after he lost the seat in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election. He had won the constituency in 2021 and had served as a Trinamool Congress legislator since then.
