This meeting marked a significant step in the political re-alignment as NPF formally joined the PDA coalition. Career

Political Journey
  • In 2003, Liezietsu won Nagaland Legislative Assembly elections from Northern Angami-I (ST) constituency and was made the Urban Development Minister.
  • He won the same constituency in 2008 and was again named the Minister of Urban Development of the state and was also given the charge of Higher and Technical Education minister.
  • He did not contest the 2013 state polls and is currently the Chairman of Democratic Alliance of Nagaland with cabinet status.
  • On 22 February 2017, he was sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister of Nagaland.
  • He has been a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) eight times and held several important portfolios in a political career spanning nearly five decades.
  • Joined politics in 1969 as one of the founding members of Nagaland’s first regional party, United Democratic Front (UDF), later renamed Naga National Democratic Party (NNDP).
