Pope Francis was discharged from Rome's Gemelli Hospital on March 23, 2025, after 38 days of treatment for double pneumonia. Doctors said he was in a stable clinical condition and prescribed at least two months of rest and continued partial drug therapy during convalescence at the Vatican.

The Vatican reported a further slight improvement in Pope Francis' condition while he remained hospitalized for double pneumonia.
