Some Lesser Known Facts

1. Nicky was born to Earl and Rose Hayden, both dirt track riders.
2. At the age of 3, he first rode a bike and began racing against his brothers at 5 on a homemade track.
3. He entered MotoGP in 2003 and achieved a 3rd place finish in the standings two years later.
4. In 2006, he secured his only MotoGP championship title.
5. His final race with Red Bull Honda was at Imola on 14 May 2017 during the Superbike World Championship races.
6. While cycling in Cesena, Italy on 17 May 2017, he was struck by a car, resulting in serious head and chest injuries.
7. He was promptly taken to the Maurizio Bufalini Hospital in Cesena and treated in the intensive care unit.
8. After a week-long struggle, Nicky passed away on 22 May 2017 due to severe injuries sustained in the accident.
9. Inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2018.
