Ishiguro announced a new 1930s-set spy novel titled Miss Lambert Steps Aboard Danger, with publication planned for the following year. The book was described as a thriller set in 1938 and was revealed by his UK publisher Faber.
Ishiguro met King Charles III at Windsor Castle, where they discussed the threat artificial intelligence could pose to creatives. The event also marked his being made a Companion of Honour for services to literature.
Ishiguro discussed the background of his novel A Pale View of Hills as its film adaptation prepared for a Cannes Film Festival premiere on 15 May 2025. He spoke about how the story connects to his family history and the Nagasaki bombing, while the film screened in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section.
